Project title: Taxation and Economy in the aragonese Sardinia during the 15th Centur

This thesis explores how the Kingdom of Sardinia overcame the crisis of the 14th century and integrated into the political, economic, and fiscal structure of the Crown of Aragon during the 15th century. By analyzing preserved documentary sources from the main fiscal institutions, the study examines the strategies employed to secure and exploit the island’s resources, as well as its role in the Mediterranean economy and in financing the monarchy. The research highlights the interactions between taxation, economic production, trade, and governance, offering a comparative perspective with other territories of the Crown. Sardinia, with its insular specificities, emerges as a unique case for understanding the consolidation of state structures and economic dynamics in the late medieval Mediterranean.
