Project title: Still Only One Earth? Environmental Diplomacy between Détente and the Post-Bipolar World. Origins, Challenges, and Prospects for U.S.-European relations

The project aims to trace the main stages of environmental and climate diplomacy to highlight how the environment has been declined in foreign policy agendas particularly between the two sides of the Atlantic – namely the United States of America and the European community – in the period between the détente of the 1970s and the post-bipolar world. In doing so, it aims to reconstruct the positions of these actors around pivotal episodes for the development of this branch of international relations.
