Since 2015 the University of Cagliari (UniCa) promoted the project UniCa4Refugees

•Cultural-linguistic mediation service;

•Make easier the procedures to recognize access qualifications to university studies;

•Italian language courses (with also linguistic tandems);

•Assigning the Erasmus+ Online Linguistic Support – OLS licences, also for other European languages;

•Tuition fees waiving;

•Support for text books acquisition;

•Possibility to register for single courses/modules with fee waiving;

•Possibility to carry out vocational traineeships at the university facilities.

University Corridors for Refugees UNI-CO-RE 4.0

The project University Corridors for Refugees UNI-CO-RE aims at promoting and increasing opportunities for refugee students living in countries of first asylum, to obtain student visas and scholarships, through initiatives offered by universities and/or higher education organizations to continue their higher education in Italy.

It is promoted by UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Caritas Italiana, Diaconia Valdese, Centro Astalli and other partners, together with 33 Italian Universities in 2022.

After the successful experience of UNICORE 2.0 and 3.0, by which in 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 the University of Cagliari selected 5 students to study in a Master Programme at the, now the fourth edition UNICORE 4.0 is launched to select other two students who currently live and have been recognized as refugees in Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria.

The selected students will be exempted from tuition fees and will receive financial support for flight tickets and Visa-related expenses, and a study grant to help them during their stay in Italy.
