Mathematical methods for the study of glyphs and petroglyphs

The goal of this project is to develop mathematical methods for the study and analysis of glyphs and petroglyphs. These methods will be based on the numerical solution of variational problems exploiting priors like fractional derivatives and sparsity enforcing non-Euclidean norms. The developed algorithms will be validated on real and synthetic data. The real data will be collected in archaeological sites of interest in the Sardinian region. The developed algorithms will be made available in open source format.
