2020/2021 Call "NOP and Transitional Plan - Innovative Doctoral Programmes with Industrial Orientation"

With Directorial Decree 22 December 2020, no. 377, the rankings of the additional scholarships were approved to be eligible for funding relating to the Directorial Decree 30 July 2020, no. 1233, approving the public notice for the funding of innovative doctoral scholarships with industrial characterization - XXXVI cycle - relating to the 2020/2021 academic year, funded from the resources of the NOP Research and Innovation 2014-2020. As a result of the projects presented by the beneficiary universities and the completion of the procedures of accreditation of doctoral programmes of the XXXVI cycle, the proposals accepted for funding are 182, for a total amount of EUR 15,836,083.62, divided as follows:

  • 163 doctoral scholarships awarded to universities in the less developed regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia, Sicily) for a total value of EUR 14,187,178.62;
  • 19 doctoral scholarships awarded to universities in the transition regions (Abruzzo, Molise, Sardinia) for a total value of EUR 1,648,905.

Out of 14 applications submitted by our University, 12 were positively evaluated, 8 of which were not funded due to insufficient financial resources. For the academic year 2020/2021, the University of Cagliari awarded 4 PhD scholarships.


With Directorial Decree 22 December 2020 no. 376, the rankings of the scholarships were approved additional PhD programmes on a restricted topic "Internal and marginalized areas" - XXXVI cycle - relating to the Directorial Decree of 30 July 2020, n. 1233, financed with 10 million euros worth on the 2015-2017 Research and Innovation Extract Plan, Human Capital Axis, of the Development Fund e Cohesion. As a result of the projects presented by the beneficiary universities, not only of the target regions of the PON for Research and Innovation 2014-2020, but also of the regions of the Center-North, and following the evaluation of ANVUR, the proposals accepted for funding are 122 for a total amount of EUR 9,823,076.72 , divided as follows:

  • 98 doctoral scholarships awarded to the universities of the Southern Regions (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily) for a total value of EUR 7,870,773.20;
  • 24 scholarships awarded to universities located in the central-northern regions (Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Marche, Piedmont, Tuscany, Umbria and Veneto) for a total value of EUR 1,952,303.52.

The 122 additional grants financed with the resources of the Research and Innovation Extract Plan are added to the 182 innovative PhD grants financed, for a total amount of EUR 15,836,083.62, by the PON Research and Innovation 2014-2020, also provided from DD 30 July 2020, no. 1233. Overall, therefore, there are 304 additional doctoral scholarships compared to those already foreseen for the academic year 2020/2021 - Cycle XXXVI - for a total funding of EUR 25,659,160.34.

Out of 9 applications presented by our University, 6 were evaluated positively, 4 of which were not funded due to insufficient financial resources. For the academic year 2020/2021, the University of Cagliari awarded 2 PhD scholarships.
