A partire dal 06 Febbraio 2012, il Prof. Yucel Saygin della Sabanci University, Turchia terrà un corso di 5 lezioni nella Scuola di dottorato in scienze matematiche e informatiche dal titolo:
“Privacy-preserving data management”
con il seguente calendario:

Short Abstract
With the advances in technology, it is now possible to collect and store massive amounts of data for scientific purposes, to provide better services to users, for public security, and many other reasons. However, most of the collected data are about users, and therefore it is sensitive information and special care must be taken when processing, sharing, or publishing this data. Nowadays, due to new widely adopted technologies such as mobile computing, and social networking, the privacy issues have become more serious and some privacy scandals reached the popular media such as the i-phone location data collection, facebook privacy policies, google cars, etc. The aim of this course is to introduce the basic concepts related to privacy, and to provide an overview of existing solutions that enable privacy preserving data mining and privacy preserving publishing.
Short Bio
Yucel Saygin is an Associate Professor of Computer Science with the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Sabanci University in Turkey. He received his B.S., M.S., and PhD. degrees from the Department of computer Engineering at Bilkent University in 1994, 1996, and 2001, respectively. His main research interests include data mining, and privacy preserving data management. Yücel Sayg?n has published in international journals like ACM Transactions on Database Systems, VLDB Journal, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and in proceedings of international conferences. He co-chaired various conferences and workshops in the area of data mining and privacy preserving data management. He is currently the coordinator of the MODAP (Mobility, Data Mining, and Privacy) project funded by EU FP7 under the Future and Emerging Technologies Program.
