Dipartimento di Scienze biomediche
Research topics for the theses:
Neurochemical anatomy of neuronal systems in the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS) of humans and experimental animals; anatomical localization of peptide neurotransmitters, neurotrophins, molecules indicating synaptic plasticity.
Where to work:
Laboratory of Neurocytology and Neuroanatomy, section of Cytomorphology of the Dip.to of Biomedical Sciences, Cittadella Univ. of Monserrato
What to do:
Attending students learn and learn to independently apply laboratory techniques applied to the study of the chemical neuroanatomy of the nervous system of humans and animals; they include the preparation of 'traditional' histological preparations, the cutting of sections by cryostat, immunochemical techniques such as western blot and immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR analyses. The observation and interpretation of the preparations will take place through light and/or fluorescence microscopic observation, microphotography, computerized densitometric analysis of immunochemical preparations, and the use of the most common databases for bibliographic research.
Number of students per year:
5 (3 of the Bachelor's degree, 2 of the Master's degree in BCM and/or NPB)
