May 2023

Michele Mascia is a Chemical Engineer, PhD, Full Professor of Chemical Plant design from 2019, at the Department of Mechanical Chemical and Materials Engineering of the University of Cagliari. His research activities focus on electrochemical engineering and applied electrochemistry. The main processes studied are the electrolysis of water (conventional, bio-assisted and photo-assisted), conventional and microbial fuel cells. The main applications are energy harvesting and conversion, water and wastewater treatment, and remediation of polluted soils. Fundamental and applied studies cover design, characterisation and modelling of reactors, simulation of plants, electrocatalysis and reaction mechanisms.

Michele Mascia has been a member of UniCa's governing bodies: Senato Accademico (Academic Senate), from 2016 to 2021; Comitato Unico di Garanzia (gender equality and anti-discrimination committee from 2018); Statute revision commission (from 2010 to 2011).
