Course “VISAGE-Chasing Virtual SedimentAry GEology”

It is now possible to enroll in the EDUC VISAGE-Chasing Virtual SedimentAry GEology course offered by our University in collaboration with the University of Pécs (Hungary), selected as part of the first EDUC call for international teaching ideas.

Modalities

The course includes synchronous and asynchronous activities. A first online lesson is scheduled on November 30, 2022, from 16:00 to 18:00, and afterward, it will be possible to enjoy videos (6 hours) and content autonomously through the EDUC Moodle platform.

The course will be held by professors Luca Giacomo Costamagna (UNICA) and Làszlò Bujtor (University of Pécs).

Participation in the first online meeting is open to all professors, researchers, Ph.D. students, and students of the six universities of the EDUC alliance. At the same time, access to the contents of the Moodle platform is intended only for students (including students enrolled in a Ph.D. Course).

ECTS

For the completion of the entire course, after a final evaluation test, the EDUC certificate will be issued with the amount of ECTS equivalent (equal to 1). The recognition of the course and the relative credit depends on the home university.

Program

  • 30th November, h 16:00 - Online seminar led by prof. Costamagna (University of Cagliari) and prof. Bujtor (University of Pécs);
  • from 1st December to 12th December - Access to the asynchronous material on the EDUC Moodle platform;
  • from 12th December to 16th December - Access to the online evaluation test.

Admissibility

With the exception of the first online meeting, the course is oriented to students regularly enrolled in one of the following courses of study program: Environmental and Natural Sciences, Geological Sciences, Environmental and Land Engineering, Nature Conservation and Management, Geological Sciences, Environmental Engineering for Sustainable Development and other similar degree programs. 

The course is also open to all interested students, regardless of the year or degree program, including students enrolled in a Ph.D. Course.

Students must also have an English language level equal to B1.

Objectives of the course

The course aims to acquire knowledge and discover the world of sedimentary rocks and their paleontological component through a virtual journey to discover the sedimentary paleoenvironments developed in Sardinia after the various orogeny and their comparison with the sedimentary paleoenvironments coeval with the microplate of Tisza (Hungary).
