Abstract
The promotion of new housing practices in inner areas contributes to deal with the effects of demographic shrinkage on local communities, affected by phenomena of emigration, resettlement and return of residents or by touristisation dynamics. The contribution reflects on the initiatives of local authorities aimed at attracting new residents, whether stable or temporary, by promoting the recovery of unused housing stock, on the “Case a un euro” experience on a national scale and in the Sardinia Region. The mechanism allows owners to sell disused buildings, at a symbolic price, to private actors who take on the responsibility of renovation. Finally, the effectiveness of a policy to contrast depopulation based on the selling of real estate assets is discussed, following a simplistic and bucolic interpretation of marginal territories, in which the valorisation of the material components of settlements, according to the logics of tourism marketing, prevails over the social and identity values of local communities.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
