Abstract

We read with interest the article by Kenney et al. [1] reporting on the possible relationship between rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and occurrence of cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). This relationship represents a noteworthy issue, because highlights the need to properly identify RBD in the daily clinical practice in PD patients and especially in early stages of the disease. In this retrospective study, authors examined PD patients drawn from the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI), an ongoing observational, multicenter, international project started in June 2010, with publicly available data designed to identify potential biomarkers on PD progression.
