Abstract
Among the main activities related to the archaeological researches carried out by Gennaro Pesce, we should cer-tainly mention the extensive excavation work carried out in the Punic-Roman city of Nora, located in the south of Sardinia, not far from Cagliari. In addition to the various aspects that are fundamental for the definition of the topography of the city during the Roman age, the scholar’s activity is also notable for some important find-ings that, connected to the new excavations that the archaeological mission of Nora has been carrying out for 30 years, provide new data on the cultural aspects of the ancient settlement. In this contribution, attention will be focused on the sacred sphere and in particular on the centrality of a female divinity of Mediterranean origin, whose presence seems to be testified by several figured clay figurines, one of which was found in the excavations carried out by Gennaro Pesce in the Roman settlement of Nora.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
