Abstract

The present paper is focused on a specific section of the prologue of the Seven against Thebes: by surveying the anuscript tradizion of the verses 10-13 as well as the various modern and current interpretations, the author proposes to keep the variant w{ran at v. 13 and the order offered by most of the ancient testimonia, according to wich Eteocles is speaking to the elderly and young people, namely the age group that normally does not take part in war operations.
