Il Muro Mediterraneo e l'Architettura Moderna: il caso della Sardegna

Abstract

During the Second World War, a defensive system was built on the coast of Sardinia, as a protection against an attack and an Allied landing; its recovery and valorization can help consolidating a memory of the twentieth century. This work is the study of these architectures in order to secure the memory against the erosion of time. These military defenses put several questions: are they actual architectures or industrial products? Are they modern architectures? They are positioned between two worlds: one that designs lightweight and resilient architectures, and the other one that builds compact, hard and eternal constructions. These are the reinforced concrete ruins of our modern history that we can find camouflaged in the topography: temples and tombs at the same time.
