Abstract
The decommissioning of important monumental structures at the end of the 1800s in Cagliari was an opportunity to reconsider the connections and meanings of urban forms. Compressions and openings in the space of the public city are firmly anchored to the “sentinels” of creative and innovative thinking, able to condense not only features, but also great urbanities. Among these buildings, the Buoncammino prison is part of the great theme of the reutilization of military monuments and the complicated relationship between places of imprisonment and the city, mainly related to exclusion and separation, for reasons of control and security. Project ideas develop from the careful reading of the building, its history, its layers and its values, allowing the monument itself to educate. Only in this way can the project take on new visions of the word.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
