RESEARCH INTERESTS

Theory and phenomenology of strong and electroweak interactions, with a special interest in Spin Physics (the study of polarization dependent effects in high energy scattering processes) and in the specific subject of transverse momentum dependent parton distributions and fragmentation functions (TMDs) of polarized an unpolarized hadrons. Main results achieved in the past few years:

  • Proper definition of all the leading-twist (un)polarized gluon TMDs with the inclusion of QCD evolution effects up to NNLL accuracy
  • Several proposals for the extraction of gluon TMDs in current and future experiments at the LHC, RHIC and the EIC
  • First extraction of unpolarized quark TMDs based on a global fit to data from different processes
  • Study of the process dependence of the gluon Sivers function and its determination from RHIC data on single spin asymmetries in inclusive pion, J/ψ and D meson production
  • Analysis of azimuthal asymmetries for pion distributions inside a jet produced in pp collisions at RHIC, as a way to probe several TMD (mainly the quark transversity distribution and the Collins fragmentation function)
