Antonio Funedda is Full Professor in Structural Geology at the Department of Chemistry and Geological Sciences – University of Cagliari.

He has got a degree in Geological Science in 1990 and a PhD in Earth Science (curriculum in Structural Geology) in 1996 (Universities of Cagliari, Genoa and Turin).

His research is mainly focused on: Geological mapping (also carried out in the project of the new Geological Map of Italy at scale 1:50,000 on the behalf of the Italian Geological Survey) applied to land-planning too, 3D geological modelling, low-grade metamorphic Variscan basement and its relationships with ore deposits; Cainozoic tectonics in Sardinia and Corsica and its relationship to the geodynamic evolution of Western Mediterranean basin.

A.F. has been involved in several research projects funded by the Italian government as team leader. He is author and co-author of several scientific papers, geological maps, field trip guide-books and short communications in international congresses.
