Carla Buosi graduated in Natural Sciences with full marks and honours at the University of Cagliari (Italy) in 2006, where she also took a PhD degree in Earth Sciences in 2010.

She is Temporary Researcher (type b) in Paleontology and Paleoecology (04/A2, GEO/01) at the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences (DSCG) at the University of Cagliari where she teaches Applied Micropaleontology and Museology.

Her research activity mainly deals with recent and fossil benthic foraminifera and pollen grains assemblages as proxies for paleoenvironmental, palaeoecological and paleoclimate reconstructions. She also works on evaluated ecological quality status of marine environments using benthic foraminifera as bio-indicators. Her technical skills are: i) sampling and sediments treatment in laboratory for microfossils observations; ii) recognition of microfossils communities (density, diversity, abnormality, structure, etc) by diversity indices; iii) morphological analysis and detection of the abnormality tests in foraminifera; iv) statistical analysis, in particular, Cluster Analysis and Principal Component Analysis.

She is author and co-author of about 90 scientific publications mostly including articles in international journals, proceedings of international and national congresses, and chapters of international and national books. She participates in the activities of several research groups characterized by collaborations at national or international level.
