Medicine and Surgery
Students enrolled in the Master's Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery must earn a total of 8 credits in activities of their choice over the course of 6 years in order to obtain their degree. These credits must be earned from among the educational activities offered by the degree course in the current academic year. Elective internships carried out in research laboratories or clinical departments are also included among the activities chosen by the student.
Types of activities chosen by the student (ADE)
ADEs can be divided into:
– Seminars, tutorials, monographic courses, certified participation in conferences and/or congresses (previously authorized by the Degree Course Presidency) and discussion of clinical cases.
– Elective internships or clinical and laboratory tutorials (for which the student must interact directly with the teacher) in Italy and abroad.
– Active teaching at the University, provided that it is consistent with the educational path (Art. 14 University Teaching Regulations); It should be noted that this category also includes language courses, other than English, provided by the CLA and at a level greater than or equal to B1. The acquisition of level B1 or higher will allow the attribution of 5 CFU credits.
Choice of ADEs by students
Each student independently chooses their ADEs from among the educational offerings. ADEs must be carried out at times that do not interfere with other forms of educational activity.
Certification and evaluation of ADEs
Credits awarded for ADEs can only be acquired at a rate of 100%.
ADEs can be organized throughout the year, even outside of teaching periods.
The University Credits awarded for the various types of activities are defined in the table approved by the Degree Program Council on June 19, 2025:

Usually, ADE certification is sent directly by the responsible professor to the degree program office. Only elective internships can be submitted to the degree program office in the form of a paper certificate, which can be downloaded here:

In order to attend the elective internship in non-university departments, students must personally verify the department's willingness to accept them. If the receiving facility requests it, students must send a request by email to the Degree Program Secretariat specifying their NAME, SURNAME, REGISTRATION NUMBER, DEPARTMENT, and HOSPITAL FACILITY OF INTEREST, NUMBER OF HOURS THEY EXPECT TO ATTEND (multiples of 20). The objective of the elective internship must be defined by agreement between the student and the tutor responsible.

The certificate must have the following characteristics: pdf format, clearly legible, rotated in the correct direction, and appropriately renamed: SURNAME NAME ELECTIVE INTERNSHIP CERTIFICATE
It is recommended that you keep the original carefully for subsequent verification.
STUDENTS CANNOT ATTEND OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES AND CONFERENCES OR SEMINARS ACCREDITED AS SUCH THAT TAKE PLACE AT THE SAME TIME AS THEIR CLASSES.
