Elective activities

In addition to the qualifying educational activities, the educational program of each Course of Study consistent with the educational project.

These provides for educational activities independently chosen by the student as long as they are activities may include lectures, internships, seminars, tutorials, laboratories or additional other activities, as specified in Article 1, letter l of the University Teaching Regulations.

Students are ensured freedom of choice among all the courses offered in the University's Courses of Study as long as they are consistent with the educational project. Limited to students of three-year degree courses (Bachelor’s), this choice can be made only on the courses offered in Courses of Study of the same level (Art. 13 Didactic Regulations of the University). The consistency of the proposal with the educational project is evaluated by a special Commission and decided by the Course of Study Council.

A single module of an integrated course may not be listed as an exam of choice. In addition, teachings with the same name as exams already in the syllabus or whose contents are overlapping may not be chosen.

The Course of Study may indicate in advance, for purely orientation purposes, educational activities whose consistency with the educational program is ensured.

For the acquisition of credits related to the activities of the student's choice, the passing of the examination or other form of verification of profit is mandatory.

The Biology program requires the acquisition of 14 credits (CFU) over the course of three years, through independently selected learning activities, allowing students to further their learning in a personalized manner, consistent with the specific educational objectives of the program.
Students may select as elective activities, provided they are consistent with the program:


a) one or more courses offered in the University's programs at the same level, or three-year degree programs.


b) an international English certification at a level higher than that defined for their cohort, issued by the University Language Center or by a school/institution accredited under the Common European Framework for Language Competences.


c) Attendance at certified seminars with a final exam, earning 1 credit for every 8 hours of seminars (the list of seminars offered and recognized by the Degree Program is published on the "Other Training Activities" page).


d) Completion of an internship within the Erasmus/Globus programs, certified by the laboratory in which it was completed, earning 1 credit for every 25 hours of internship.


e) Completion of an optional internship, earning 1 credit for every 25 hours of internship.


f) Participation in Summer Schools coordinated by universities and/or public research institutions, earning 1 credit for every 20 certified hours, which include a final learning assessment.


The details, specific instructions, and methods for acquiring elective credits are governed by Article 5 of the Degree Program Regulations and the following documents approved by the Class Council. Student Elective Exam Procedure
Students wishing to take an elective exam not included in a list previously approved by the Degree Program must submit a specific request to the Coordinator (coord.biologia@unica.it). The Coordinator, after consulting the Academic Committee, will assess the relevance of the request and submit it for a vote at the next available Class Council meeting. Only after receiving approval from the Class Council can the student submit a request to the Student Office to have the activity added to their transcript. This request can be made by completing the appropriate form (LINK) and emailing it to the Student Office, with a copy sent to the Class Coordinator's email address (coord.biologia@unica.it).
It is not necessary to submit a request with a revenue stamp to the Student Office.

ATTENTION
For courses taught in restricted-access programs, it is mandatory to agree in advance with the course instructor regarding the actual possibility of attending classes and taking the exam.
For courses taught in e-learning programs, students must pay an attendance fee.

Procedura esami a scelta dello studente

Gli studenti che intendono sostenere un esame a scelta non compreso in un eventuale elenco preventivamente approvato dal Corso di Studio, dovranno inoltrare al Coordinatore (coord.biologia@unica.it) apposita richiesta che, sentito il parere della commissione didattica, per valutare la pertinenza della richiesta, porterà in votazione la medesima al primo Consiglio di Classe utile; solo una volta ricevuta l’ approvazione da partedel Consiglio di Corso di Classe, lo studente può presentare richiesta alla Segreteria Studenti per l’inserimento dell’attività nel libretto, compilando l’apposito modulo (LINK) ed inviandolo via mail alla Segreteria Studenti ed in copia all’indirizzo mail del Coordinatore della Classe (coord.biologia@unica.it) per chiedere che l’esame sia inserito nel proprio libretto.

Non sarà necessario presentare istanza corredata di marca da bollo alla Segreteria Studenti.

ATTENZIONE

Per gli insegnamenti erogati in Corsi di Studio ad accesso programmato è obbligatorio concordare preventivamente con il titolare dell’insegnamento l’effettiva possibilità di frequenza delle lezioni e di sostenimento dell’esame.

Per gli insegnamenti erogati in Corsi di Studio in modalità e-learning gli studenti dovranno versare un contributo di frequenza.
