The purpose of the final exam is to assess the student's ability to communicate and discuss a topic relevant to the biological sciences with clarity and mastery.
To be admitted to the final exam, known as the degree exam, the student must have earned at least 177 credits, as detailed in the program overview.
The final exam consists of the preparation and discussion of a written report (final paper) in Italian or English describing the technical and operational skills acquired during the internship, carried out under the supervision of a faculty member.

The topic of the final paper is assigned by the faculty member chosen by the student, within the scope of the degree program.
The final exam is held in front of a commission composed of professors belonging to the Biology Degree InterClass (L-13, LM-6). At the end of the defense, the Committee assigns a degree score (out of 110) based on the degree grade calculation criteria set out in the Degree Program Regulations for the student's year of enrollment. The Chairman of the Degree Committee announces the graduates publicly and records the degree grade on ESSE3.
