Master’s Degree in Hydraulic Engineering (summa cum laude) at the University of Palermo in 2001. He obtained a special award for his MD thesis “Relationship between hydrolocical response and morphological characteristics in Sicilian river basins”.

In February 2005 he obtained his Ph.D. in Hydraulic Engineering at the University Federico II of Neaples discussing the thesis “Modelling daily stremflow in low-yielding ephemeral catchments: problems and possibility”.

From January to August 2007 he was appointed as a Visiting Research at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA , working with Prof. A. Porporato.

From April 2012 to April 2015, Assistant Professor at the University of Palermo.

From December 2015 to December 2018, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, University of Cagliari, Italy.

From December 2018 Associate Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, University of Cagliari, Italy.

Qualified to be Associate professor, according to the Italian National Scientific Qualification procedure (http://abilitazione.miur.it/public/index.php) from January 2015.

Qualified to be Full professor, according to the Italian National Scientific Qualification procedure (http://abilitazione.miur.it/public/index.php) from January 2020.

His research interests comprise streamflow modelling in ephemeral catchments, uncertainty evaluation, prevision in ungauged basins and ecohydrology.

Author or co-author of more than 100 articles, including 48 papers published on ISI peer-reviewed international journals. According to the database Scopus the H-index is 23 while the papers have been cited 1473 times (19/05/2023).
