Giuliano Armano is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Cagliari, where he belongs to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (DMI). His teaching activity includes the following master’s degree courses “Programming Languages ??for Mathematics” (course of study in Mathematics) and “Laboratory of Big Data” (course of study in Data Science, Business Analytics and Innovation). Again with regard to the didactic activity, he annually holds a series of seminars entitled “Object Programming and Scripting in Python”. The seminars are open to students, PhD students and research fellows interested in learning the Python language. Since 2002, prof. Armano is coordinator of the IASC group (“Intelligent Agents and Soft-Computing”). The group’s research activities focus on machine learning and pattern recognition. These skills have been and are actively used in various application fields, in particular in bioinformatics, information retrieval and text categorization. Author in numerous international journals, Prof. Armano has also organized various international events (conferences, workshops, special issues), in particular in the field of software agents and bioinformatics.
