Notice by Davide Clementi, CUN-CNSU Ph.D. Candidates' Representative

Dear colleagues,

My name is Davide Clementi, and I represent Ph.D. students in the National University Students' Council (CNSU). For the past year, I have been fighting for improvements in the working conditions of Ph.D. students and young researchers as part of ADI (Associazione Dottorandi e Dottori di ricerca in Italia), the Association of PhD students and PhD holders in Italy. ADI has fought for Ph.D. students and young researchers for more than 20 years, with the aim to improve the living and working conditions of those who work in the Italian Universities/research insitutes. Some recent victories, such as the extension of the right to receive unemployment benefits (DIS-COLL) to Ph.D. students and last year's Ph.D. stipend raise, show that if we unite we are stronger and that the collaboration of each and every one can lead us to important victories.

One of ADI's fundamental goals is to understand the needs and issues of people who live academia every day, both through our local activism and through annual national surveys. The results of these surveys have been used to propose reforms and obtain rights for early career researchers, along with real economic benefits. We therefore ask you to play a small but crucial role by filling this survey. It will take only a few minutes of your time, it is completely anonymous and it will enable us to better understand the effect of working conditions on the mental health and well-being of PhD candidates.

More information on the survey can be found on the ADI website (www.dottorato.it), and the members of the local ADI section are available and can be contacted for every information or question you may have.
