CONCLUSION OF THE PhD PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS OF CYCLE XXXIV AND OF STUDENTS OF CYCLE XXXIII WHO ARE MAKING-UP THEIR ATTENDANCE

Extension of the final deadline for PhD prohrammes, stay abroad, final exams

We inform you that the Academic Bodies, in the sessions of 25 and 30.6.2021, following the provisions of art. 33, paragraphs 2-bis, 2-ter, 2-quater, 2-quinquies, of D.L. no. 41 of 22.3.2021, converted with amendments with Law no. 69 of 21.5.2021 regarding the extension, for a maximum of three months, of the final term of the programme of PhD students whose activities have been slowed down or suspended due to Covid-19 epidemiological emergency, with or without disbursement of the scholarship for the corresponding period, they made the following decisions regarding the conclusion of the programme of doctoral students of cycle XXXIV and and those of cycle XXXIII who are making-up their attendance due to illness / maternity:

  • recognition of the extension, with or without scholarship, provided for by the aforementioned provisions, to all doctoral students enrolled in the last year of PhD programmes, who have submitted a motivated application approved by the governing bodies of their respective courses;

  • postponement of the final term of the programme by a period equal to the duration of the extension granted, starting from the conclusion of the three-year programme, which began on 1.10.2018 or later than the official start date of the courses (PhD students with PON R&I scholarships and PhD students admitted to the courses following the scrolling of the ranking lists);

  • recognition, for the purpose of fulfilling the obligation to stay abroad provided for by art. 12, par. 5, of the PhD Regulations, and therefore the validity for the achievement of the minimum period of 6 months, of the activities carried out by the PhD students remotely, provided they are authorized by the Academic Board and formally certified by the supervisor of the foreign institution, without right to the increase in the event that they have been carried out in remote connection with the foreign body but physically from Italy; in the event that it has not been possible to carry out or continue, even remotely, the experience abroad, due to the health emergency situation, the authorization, by way of exception to the Regulations, at the end of the doctoral course, without any revocation of the scholarship, or request for restitution of the sums received, subject to a resolution of the Academic Board that sets out the reasons for the missed or shortened stay;

  • possibility of carrying out stays abroad authorized by the Academic Board, subject to confirmation of the availability of the host institution to accept and compliance with the national, regional and foreign legislation on the matter containment and management of the epidemiological emergency from Covid-19 and security protocols;

  • possibility of recognition of the virtual mobility experience carried out by the doctoral students for the purpose of issuing the additional Doctor Europaeus certification, upon presentation of a reasoned request, accompanied by a formal declaration from the foreign supervisor certifying the impossibility for the the PhD student carrying out the activity in presence at the host institution, approved by the Academic Board;

  • commitment to advance the sums necessary to ensure the financial coverage of all extensions, pending the transfer of resources provided for by Legislative Decree no. 41/2021, as well as the verification of the availability of the funding bodies for additional appropriations;

  • carrying out of the FINAL EXAMS for the achievement of the PhD degree according to the SESSIONS listed below:

FIRST SESSION

- January-February 2022, in accordance with the Regulations, for doctoral students who started their training activities in October 2018 and will finish their three-year doctorate on 30 September;

- March 2022, for doctoral students who started training activities in October 2018 and will benefit from the extension provided for by art. 33, paragraphs 2-bis, 2-ter, 2-quater, 2-quinquies, of the D.L. n. 41 of 22.3.2021, converted with Law no. 69 of 21.5.2021, lasting 2 months;

- April 2022, for doctoral students who started training activities in October 2018 and will benefit from the extension provided for by art. 33, paragraphs 2-bis, 2-ter, 2-quater, 2-quinquies, of the D.L. n. 41 of 22.3.2021, converted with Law no. 69 of 21.5.2021, lasting 3 months;

- May 2022, for doctoral students who have started the industrial pathway or the ordinary path after the official start of the courses;

- July 2022, for doctoral students who have started the industrial pathway or the ordinary path after the official start of the courses and will benefit from the extension provided for by art. 33, paragraphs 2-bis, 2-ter, 2-quater, 2-quinquies, of the D.L. n. 41 of 22.3.2021, converted with Law no. 69 of 21.5.2021, lasting 3 months.

SECOND SESSION
- June-July 2022, for those PhD students who received a non-positive evaluation for admission to the exam in the January-February 2022 session;

- September 2022, for those PhD students who received a non-positive evaluation for admission to the exam in the session of March 2022;

- October 2022, for those PhD students who received a non-positive evaluation for admission to the exam in the April 2022 session;

- November 2022, for those PhD students who received a non-positive evaluation for admission to the exam in the May 2022 session;

- January 2023, for those PhD students who received a non-positive evaluation for admission to the exam in the session of July 2022.
