Description of the teaching modalities for the course Computation of Probability for the 2020/2021 academic year

---

Dear Students,

as you know due to the COVID-19 emergency this year courses will be delivered in a "mixed" mode. Second and third year students will be able to choose whether to follow the course face-to-face or online, while students who have already taken the course, students who insert the exam among the exams of their choice, and students who buy the individual courses must necessarily follow the online course. Furthermore, given the limited number of places available in the classroom, it may be necessary to create shifts for students who will opt to attend the course in person.

Students attending face-to-face will be informed, through the Ap-Posto application provided by the University, in which period they will be able to access the classroom and in which seat they will have to sit. Please follow these directions to the letter, as the classroom arrangement will be of essential importance in case one or more students will test positive for the virus. Unlike in previous years, each teacher will be required to compile a register of those present at each lesson and keep a 15-day register in order to help health authorities in tracing any people exposed to the virus. During the lessons it will not be possible, unless in exceptional cases, to leave the classroom and it will be necessary to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Any late students will not be able to access the classroom. It will not be possible to take breaks and the lessons will consist of two consecutive academic hours (45 minutes each). In the classroom, students will have to wear their masks continuously.

The platform selected for the online delivery of the course is Microsoft Teams. You can download this program for free or you can use it via browser. You will need to log in with your University credentials. Once logged in, to be able to follow the lessons, you will need to join the team created specifically using the code: sh5u3l4. Students who purchase single courses may not be able to join the team using the code. If you have any problems do not hesitate to contact me and I will sign you up for the team. On the main Team page I will post notices about the course so I invite everyone (even those who will follow face-to-face) to join the Team as soon as possible. Also for any more "sudden" alerts I have created a Telegram channel to which I invite you to join (https://t.me/joinchat/AAAAAFlSDMRQge2MXaN2Gg).

This year will be a complex year for both students and teachers, so please be patient. Maximum collaboration will be required on both sides. I invite you to promptly notify me of any problem or doubt you have (mathematical or not), as like never before collaboration between us will be essential.

I wish everyone a peaceful academic year!

Best regards,

Alessandro Buccini
