PhD students enrolled on a PhD programme (30th cycle) for  the third year will take a final exam to receive their PhD degree, according to the rules set up by Ministerial Decree no. 45/2013 (article 8, paragraph 6), transposed in the Rules concerning PhD programmes in force at UniCa (Rectoral Decree no. 946 dated July 5th 2013, as amended and supplemented).

EXAMINATION SESSION: FEBRUARY - MARCH 2018

PhD degree application and thesis upload
PhD students can submit the application to obtain their PhD degree and archive their thesis only online, by entering their personal page on UniCa website at: https://unica.esse3.cineca.it/Start.do

DEADLINES
Thesis defence in FEBRUARY: the submission process will work from January 15th 2018 until the 15th day before the scheduled date for the thesis defence. If the date for the thesis defence hasn’t been scheduled yet, the 15 days will be calculated starting from February 1st 2018 – beginning of the examination session.

Thesis defence in MARCH: the submission process will probably work from February 1st 2018 until the 15th day before the thesis defence scheduled date. If the date for the thesis defence hasn’t been scheduled yet, the 15 days will be calculated starting from March 1st 2018 – beginning of the examination session.
Please, note that the online application process for the admission to the final exam will be open only after the Academic Board will have communicated the thesis defence date to the Office in charge (Settore dottorati e master).

Within 15 days before the date of the thesis defence, applicants MUST:
1. Submit the application to obtain their PhD degree
2. Upload their thesis
3. Pay the stamp duty (€ 16.00)

PHD THESIS
The PhD thesis must be uploaded in a single PDF file, including a cover, not exceeding 50 MB. PhD theses in multiple files can’t be uploaded. The file must be named “tesi di dottorato_ ... (PhD student’s name and surname)”. The thesis cover must follow the official template (Please, refer to the attached document at the bottom of this page).

SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR
PhD theses must indicate the acronym of their scientific disciplinary sector, according to the note issued by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) (ref. no. 1581 of July 26th 2005). Only the alphanumeric code is required (for example: MAT/01, ING-IND/19, M-FIL/06).
The submission process allows to indicate only the main one. Other possible scientific disciplinary sectors can be indicated in the note section.

THESIS EMBARGO REQUEST
A thesis embargo request can be submitted only under specific conditions.
Please, read the sections “Tesi di dottorato e diritto d’autore” and “Embargo della tesi di dottorato”(Please, refer to the attached document at the bottom of this page).
The thesis embargo request form must be undersigned by the supervisor, and named “richiesta di embargo della tesi_(PhD student’s name and surname)”. (Please, refer to the attached document at the bottom of this page).

RECORDS OF PHD ACTIVITIES
All the PhD students receiving a scholarship must deliver their records of attendance concerning their 3-year PhD programme, including their period abroad (for POR Sardegna scholarships holders only). Records can be delivered only once filled in and signed.
