Scadenza per la presentazione delle domande: ENTRO IL PRIMO SEMESTRE DEL TERZO ANNO DI ISCRIZIONE AL DOTTORATO

---

What is it? The Doctor Europaeus (DE) is an additional certification awarded by the University of Cagliari only in case the 4 conditions established by the Confederation of European Union Rectors’ Conferences, recognized by the European Universities Association (EUA), are present:

1. The PhD thesis must have been prepared partly as a result of a research period of at least one trimester spent in another European Country, attested by a formal declaration on letterhead provided by the PhD student's supervisor abroad;

2. The PhD thesis defence will be accorded if at least two professors from two higher education institutions of two European Countries, other than the one where the thesis is defended, have given their review of the manuscript;

3. At least one member of the jury should come from a higher education institution in another European Country, other than the one, where the thesis is defended - not coinciding to the external referees nor the supervisor;

4. A part of the defence must take place in one of the official languages, other than the one(s) of the Country, where the thesis is defended.

How can I apply? In order to receive the DE additional certification, the PhD student should submit a specific application to the PhD and Professional Master Office by the first semester of the third year. A copy of the application should be sent to the Academic Board of the PhD programme. The application form can be downloaded on the webpage "Forms" and sent by e-mail to dottoratiemaster@unica.it (remember to bring the original document personally to the Office as soon as you can).

Applications sent after the above-mentioned deadline won't be considered.

The application form will be integrated with the following documents:

- Academic Board's deliberation accepting the PhD student's application and attesting the existence of the 4 conditions (art. 16, par. 1 of UniCa Rules and Regulations on PhD programmes);

- Two referees' positive evaluations (form available on the webpage "Forms");

- Declaration on letterhead provided by the supervisor who hosted the PhD student abroad, confirming his/her presence for at least 3 months.

How can I receive the DE certification? Once the PhD thesis has been defended, the PhD student can submit his/her request for issuance on plain paper to the PhD and Professional Master Office.

The application form is available on the webpage "Forms".

The legislation regulating the DE is available on the webpage "Rules and Regulations".
