The Bachelor's Degree Course in Biology is a three-year program with limited enrollment (300 places).
To be admitted, applicants must hold a five-year secondary school diploma, or another equivalent qualification obtained abroad and recognized as suitable under current legislation.
A mandatory admission test is required for selection and to determine any Additional Educational Requirements (OFA - Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi). Those who have submitted an application for selection within the terms indicated in the call for applications are eligible to take the test.
The admission test consists of an online test (TOLC-B), which comprises 50 questions and includes the following sections:
- 20 questions on Basic Mathematics (50 minutes)
- 10 questions on Biology (20 minutes)
- 10 questions on Physics (20 minutes)
- 10 questions on Chemistry (20 minutes)
You can view the test topics and practice by registering in the CISIA exercises area: https://www.cisiaonline.it/prepararsi/tolc-esercitazioni Detailed information on TOLC-B is available on the "Accesso ai Corsi di Laurea" page. The call for applications can be consulted via the link at the bottom of the page.
Placement in the ranking within the programmed quota grants the right to enroll in the Bachelor's Degree Course in Biology. The procedures, deadlines, and list of documents required for the enrollment application, specified annually in the General Study Manifesto of the University of Cagliari, are available via the online student services link accessible from the University's homepage (www.unica.it) and are published in the call for applications. The amount of fees to be paid is established according to the University Fees and Contributions Regulation issued annually.
Methods for Fulfilling OFA (Additional Educational Requirements)
Candidates who score less than 10/50 in the Basic Mathematics section will be enrolled with Additional Educational Requirements (OFA) and must address these initial deficiencies within the first year of the course.
OFA must be fulfilled compulsorily within the first year of the course.
To this end, students must compulsorily attend online self-learning alignment courses available on both the CISIA platform (MOOC) and Unica's e-learning platform for Basic Mathematics, as specified on the "Corsi di Riallineamento" webpage. They must also pass an OFA recovery test which will take place within the first academic year of enrollment.
Any further integrative and support activities aimed at OFA recovery may be foreseen as indicated in the University Guidelines for the management of Additional Educational Requirements (OFA) in Bachelor's and Single-Cycle Master's Degree Courses. Further information will be published on the specific webpage of the Degree Course website: https://web.unica.it/unica/it/crs_60_57_20_riallineamento.page
OFA Recovery Test
The fulfillment of OFA occurs through a recovery test, participation in which is mandatory.
A maximum of two dates may be provided, one in the first semester (tentatively in December).
The recovery test will take place online at the University's computer labs and will consist of 20 questions to be completed in 50 minutes on Basic Mathematics.
Scores will be calculated as follows:
- 1 point for each correct answer
- 0 points for each incorrect or unanswered question
The recovery test is considered passed upon achieving a score equal to or greater than 10/20.
Should a student not pass the recovery test, which they must compulsorily attend, they will obligatorily continue to follow the alignment courses described above and will be able to take only the exams for General and Inorganic Chemistry and Chemistry Lab, Botany, Language Skills, and IT Skills.
Before taking further exams, they must pass the Mathematics and Statistics exam, the passing of which will count as fulfillment of the OFA, as this exam contains content strictly connected to the OFA and has been the subject of the alignment activities proposed by the Degree Course.
Please note that participation in the recovery tests is mandatory. Failure to participate will result in the inability to take the Mathematics and Statistics exam.
