Medicine and Surgery
Students enrolled in the Master's Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery must, in order to obtain their degree, accumulate a total of 8 CFU (university credits) from student-choice activities over the course of 6 years. These credits can be obtained from among the educational activities offered by the Degree Course in the current academic year. The student-choice activities also encompass elective internships conducted in research laboratories or clinical departments.
Type of Student Choice Activities (ADE)
ADEs can be divided into:
- Seminars, Tutorials, Monographic Courses, certified participation in Conferences and/or Congresses (previously authorised by the Chair of the Degree Course) and discussion of clinical cases.
- Clinical and laboratory electives or tutorials (for which the student must interface directly with the lecturer) in Italy and abroad .
- Active courses at the University, provided that they are consistent with the educational pathway (Art. 14 of the University's Didactic Regulations); It is specified that this category also includes language courses, other than English, provided by the CLA and of a level greater than or equal to B1. The acquisition of level B1 or higher will allow the award of 5 CFUs.
Students' choice of ADEs
Each student chooses his or her own ADEs from among the didactic offerings. ADEs must be conducted at times that do not interfere with other forms of teaching activity.
Certification and evaluation of ADEs
The acquisition of credits attributed to ADEs only occurs with 100 per cent attendance. ADEs can be organised throughout the year, even outside teaching periods.
The University Training Credits allocated to the various types of activities are defined in the following table:

Certification of ADEs is usually sent directly by the lecturer responsible to the secretariat of the CoL. Only Elective Internships can be handed in to the LOD secretariat in the form of a paper certificate which can be downloaded from the section below (ELECTIVE INTERNATE CERTIFICATE).
To attend the elective internship in non-university departments, the student must personally ascertain the availability of the department to receive him/her. If the receiving institution makes a request, the student must send an e-mail request to the Teaching Secretariat of the degree course, specifying the SURNAME NAME, MATRICOLA, DEPARTMENT and HOSPITAL DEPARTMENT CONCERNED, NUMBER OF HOURS THAT THE STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO ATTEND (multiples of 20).
The objective of the elective internship must be defined by agreement between the student and the responsible tutor.

The certificate must have the following characteristics: pdf format, must be clearly legible, rotated in the right direction and appropriately renamed: SURNAME NAME CERTIFICATE ELECTED
It is recommended to keep the original carefully for later verification.
STUDENTS MAY NOT ATTEND ELECTIVE ACTIVITIES AND ACCREDITED CONGRESSES OR SEMINARS THAT COINCIDE WITH THEIR CLASS SCHEDULE
