Simulation of radiation-matter interaction and dosimetry

Simulation of x-ray imaging and spectroscopy experiments

Many biomedical imaging techniques are based on radiation-matter interaction processes and / or radioactive nuclei decays. Knowing these processes is essential for the design of imaging systems, for the development of software for reconstruction and image analysis, and for patient dose evaluation.

The Medical Physics group is active in the development and application of software for the simulation of radiation-matter interactions and radioactive decay processes, using the Monte Carlo method, which is based on random sampling of the possible results of each event.
