Abstract
Starting from the occurrences of Monteverdi's name in the Luigi Nono’s archive (musical sources, correspondences, writings, books and records), the chapter rearranges three aspects of Nono's image of Monteverdi, related with: the composer's research on performative space, some specific works and projects, and Nono's thought on the 'new rhetoric' of music.
