Abstract
Codified in the Italian national legislation only at the beginning of the 80s, the agri- tourisms reveal their function since the lexical juxtaposition that defines them, as farms also specialized in the tourist hospitality for the purpose of catering offer and / or overnight accommodation. Against the background of the “new peasant” movement evoked by J. Van der Ploeg (2008), also in terms of resistance to the subordination to the global agri-food empires, these places appear to intercept at least two significant trends in the processes of redefinition of rural areas at risk of socio-demographic and economic exhaustion: the adoption of a multifunctional approach in their business practices, aimed at introducing product and process innovations to differentiate their market strategies beyond the exclusive production of agricultural goods; the offer of an experiential, more sustainable and potentially off-season tourism.File | Size | Format | |
