Abstract

Hospitals around the globe are facing new challenges: the exponential development of technological and medical practice, the resistance of viruses inside the buildings, the crescent human demands for well-being standards and their architectural aging. The study deals with existing pediatric hospitals through data analysis, architectural projections and sensory spatial evaluation with the aim to define guidelines for their sustainable requalification. The research method applied to the medical unit of CHU Mustapha Pacha of Algiers is divided into: - analysis of the stratigraphy evolution of the building; - perceptual assessment of space and identification of critical categories; - exploration of guidelines for rehabilitation that use the architectural project as a research tool to evaluate and interpret users satisfaction. The research aims to provide multidisciplinary methods for the pursuit of humanized healthcare facilities and to introduce healthcare design among the academic disciplines in Algeria.
