Abstract

Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Discours sur l’inégalité and Contrat Social concern with equality and inequality differently. The Dédicace of the Discours elucidates a political theory of equality and inequality, but in the work we find an anthropological and negative idea of inequality and of its development, which has political results. In Contrat Social the relationship equality/inequality is chiefly political; inequality is opposite to natural liberty of human beings and in the social contract the clause of unanimité is warrantee of equality. Notwithstanding, in Contrat Rousseau foresees some economical and political forms of inequality, but not in contradiction with real equality of men.
