Abstract

A geographical marginalization of the most ancient branch of Indo-Aryan speakers, which could be now focused on by resorting to Bartoli's (1925: 7) linguistic norm of “lateral areas ( “lateral areas preserve older linguistic features than central areas”, is here analysed thanks to the help of some Pisani’s (1966, 1969, 1974) insightful corrections with regard to further secondary mutual influence between several languages of the same Sprachbund. The case study is the phrase devayana pathin.
