Federico Onnis Cugia (Cagliari, 17 September 1990)

He graduated in Law from the University of Cagliari, discussing his thesis "Gli strumenti finanziari derivati tra aleatorietà e obblighi di informazione" in the academic year 2011-2012 (supervisor Prof. Corrado Chessa). Having completed his degree two years ahead of the standard course duration, he was awarded the title of Best Graduate of the Academic Year by the University of Cagliari. Since then, he has served as an Expert in the Subject and Teaching Assistant in Private Law Institutions, Insurance Law, Financial Markets Law, and Procurement Law at the Department of Law of the University of Cagliari.

In 2017 (XXIX cycle), he obtained his PhD in Management and Law - Curriculum in Economics Law at the Polytechnic University of Marche, discussing his thesis "L’adattamento del diritto interno alle linee dell’Unione Europea nei contratti di finanziamento nel settore immobiliare" (supervisor Prof. Pietro Maria Putti). During his PhD, he assisted in courses on Private Law Institutions and Commercial Law and spent a period in 2016 as a Visiting PhD Student at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh (UK).

From the academic year 2016/2017 to 2020/2021, he was an Adjunct Professor of Business and Labour Law and Mergers & Acquisitions in the English-taught economics degree programs at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

Between 2019 and 2021, he was a member of the research project "Analisi delle problematiche giuridiche riguardanti la gestione e la valorizzazione delle terre civiche in Sardegna" and held a research grant titled "The Vulnerability in Agrifood Markets" at the Department of Law of the University of Cagliari.

Since the academic year 2022/2023, he has been an Adjunct Professor of Insurance Law in the Master's Degree in Management and Business - Banking and Finance program at San Raffaele University in Rome.

On February 1, 2023, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Associate Professor for the Disciplinary Field 12/E3 - Economics, Financial and Agri-Food Markets Law and Regulation, Navigation and Air Law.

In 2023, he won the public selection for a research position under article 24, paragraph 3, letter b) of Law no. 240/2010 at the Department of Law of the University of Cagliari in Agri-Food Law (Scientific-Disciplinary Sector IUS/03, now GIUR-03/B).

He is registered in the special list of university professors of the Bar Association of Cagliari. Since 2016, he has primarily practiced in the fields of contract law (from contract formation to managing its issues, including debt recovery), commercial law, insurance law, banking law, and agri-food law. He has been certified by the National Forensic Council as a Specialist Lawyer in Civil Law.

He has served and continues to serve as President and Board Member of companies (especially in the real estate and sports sectors), member of Supervisory Bodies under Legislative Decree no. 231/01 for major financial intermediaries, and President and member of Internal Audit Committees and similar bodies.

He is a member of the editorial boards of the scientific journals "Banca, Borsa e Titoli di Credito" and "Rivista Giuridica Sarda" (where he is also Editorial Secretary) and the editorial committees of the scientific journals "Giustizia Civile.com" (Banking, Finance, and Insurance area) and "Assicurazioni".

He is a corresponding member of the Association of Economics Law Professors (ADDE) and a member of the Italian Association of Food Law (AIDA-IFLA), the International Insurance Law Association - Sardinia Section, and the Italian Young Lawyers Association (AIGA) - Cagliari Section, where he is responsible for training. He is also a member of the Agri-Food Law Department of the AIGA Tommaso Bucciarelli Foundation.

He is the author of a monograph (Le operazioni «particolari» di finanziamento con garanzia immobiliare. Credito fondiario, credito agrario e altre fattispecie, ESI-Naples, 2022) and over seventy other scientific publications related to the Disciplinary Field 12/E3.
