Luisanna Cocco is researcher at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Cagliari.

She has been carrying out research activities collaborating with the "Agile Group", a research group of the University of Cagliari, which has been operating in the field of software engineering and innovative technologies such as Blockchain, since 2009. After obtaining the title of Doctor of Research in 2013 she carried out research activities first as a research fellow at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DIEE), and then as a scientific collaborator at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (DMI).

Multidisciplinarity is the founding value of her research activity which today represents the winning weapon to face the increasingly complex challenges of digital transformation and development from a sustainable economy perspective.

Starting from the modeling and simulation of financial and economic systems, using the complex systems approach, her research activity then expanded to include

modeling and simulation of the cryptocurrency market and their business models;

modeling and simulation of trading of the BTC/USD currency pair through artificial financial market models with heterogeneous agents that include realistic trading strategies, optimized through the use of genetic algorithms;

and study of complex frameworks for predicting Bitcoin prices using different machine learning techniques such as support vector regression and artificial neural networks, in particular Bayesian neural networks, LSTM networks and feed-forward networks.

Her current activity focuses on the study and development of decentralized software applications based on the Self Sovereign Identity paradigm for the construction and energy sectors in order to revolutionize both sectors and get the energy transition off the ground.
