Fabiano Asunis is currently a fixed-term researcher of type A at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architecture Engineering (DICAAR) of the University of Cagliari, as well as a lecturer of Biological Reactors and Laboratory in the study program of Industrial and Environmental Biotechnologies of the UNO Consortium of Oristano.

His research activity is mainly focused on the study of biological processes aimed at the production of products using agro-industrial residues, following the principles of the circular bioeconomy. Fabiano obtained the title of PhD in Science and Technology for the Earth and the Environment at the University of Cagliari, also obtaining the prestigious certification of Doctor Europaeus. With more than 20 high-level scientific publications and the revision of more than 50 articles for important international scientific journals, he constantly contributes to the dissemination of knowledge in his field.

Fabiano Asunis regularly participates in international conferences in the sector and is invited as a speaker at conferences and seminars focused on the circular bioeconomy and the biological valorization of waste. During his experience at the University of Cagliari, he successfully carried out research within the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architecture Engineering (DICAAR), the Department of Mechanical, Chemical and Materials Engineering (DIMCM) and the Department of Political and Social Sciences (SPOL).

Over the years, he has conducted research at renowned European centres, including Tampere University in Finland, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in  Portugal and the National University of Galway in Ireland.

In addition to research, Fabiano has acquired considerable experience as a lecturer, teaching for over 2 years in the  course of Biological Reactors in the Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology study program in Oristano. He has also acted as supervisor and co-supervisor for over 8 degree theses in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology.

Parallel to the research activity, in recent years Fabiano Asunis has participated in several incubation and business creation programs. He received an economic grant for developing a business idea based on the results of his research in the context of the BESTMEDGRAPE project. In addition, he was selected for the TALENTUP 2021 project, promoted, and managed by ASPAL - Agenzia Sarda per le Politiche Attive del Lavoro, in the framework of the Entrepreneurship and Back Program. As part of this project, he spent 3 months in the United States, between San Francisco and Boston, having the opportunity to participate in Babson Executive Education at Babson College University, the first college for entrepreneurship in the United States.
