Tiziano Ghisu graduated in Aerospace Engineering from Polytechnic of Turin and completed an MSc in Thermal Power (specialising in Aerospace Propulsion) at the University of Cranfield and a PhD in computational aerodynamic design of compressionsystems at the University of Cambridge. He has been a Research Associate at the Department of Engineering of the University of Cambridge, where he worked on numerical fluid dynamics, optimisation and uncertainty quantification in complex numerical problems. He has been a Visiting Industrial Fellow at Rolls-Royce plc (Derby, UK).

He currently is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical, Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of Cagliari. His main research interests cover the numerical simulation of complex fluid dynamics problems through high-performance computing, the development and application of optimisation methods to problems of industrial relevance, the uncertainty quantification and optimisation in presence of uncertainty. From 2014, he lectures the ‘Numerical Modelling of Fluid Systems’ course (second year of the Master Course in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cagliari).  He has received several prizes for his research activities (AIAA prize, SNECMA prize, British Aerospace Companies Prize, Royal Academy of Engineering Grant, Junior Research Fellowship from Darwin College). He is Principal Investigator for the Cagliari Unit in the projects Madeleine (Multidisciplinary ADjoint-based Enablers for LArge-scale INdustrial dEsign in aeronautics) and Nextair (multi-disciplinary digital enablers for NEXT-generation AIRcraft design and operations), funded by the European Union through the Horizon 2020 Program. He is a visiting researcher at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, and a member of UKCOMES consortium.

He has been a reviewer for a number of international journals (AIAA Journal, Journal of Aircraft, Journal of Propulsion and Power, Journal of Turbomachinery, Journal of Fluids Engineering, Engineering Optimisation, Environmental Modelling and Science, Energy, Renewable Energy, Ocean Engineering).

Bibliometrics indicators: number of articles in indexed journals: 36; number of citations: 897; Hirsch index: 18 (scopus).
