Antonella Rossi born 1956, studied Chemistry at University of Cagliari (Sardinia) where she got the title of Doctor in Chemistry with summa cum laude in 1981. She is tenured professor of Analytical Chemistry (CHEM-01/A) at UniCA since 11-01-2001.

The principal areas of her research are related to development of analytical methods for the quantification of XPS data when the material has a multilayer structure with applications to corrosion, tribology, hydrogen permeation barriers, biocompatibility and cultural heritage. She is actively involved in the reconstruction of compositional depth profiles by angle resolved XPS and ion sputtering using non parametric equations and the maximum entropy method (MEM). She optimized several electrochemical methods for the investigation of functionalized surfaces and passive films on ferrous and brass alloys. AR has always dedicated special attention to the quality of the analytical results and their traceability participating to international round robins and organizing one. Since 2008 has been nominated in the ISO TC 201 Surface Analysis. She was member of the national committee for evaluating and assessing the candidate’s scientific qualification in Analytical Chemistry (Associate Professors and Ordinary Professors) from July 2021 to December 2023.

She is co-author of 209 papers, 2 patents; 5 book chapters. she held as keynote /plenary lecturer about 50 presentations at congress, symposia and conferences. Scopus ID: 7403474652: citations: 7404; Hindex 48.

She is in the editorial board of Coatings and Vacuum and reviewer for projects and various international journals. She was PRIN coordinator of research unit since 1995 and collaborates with ETHZ since 1994 and with EMPA (ZH). Since 2023 is in the PNRR NEST spoke 9 and in the E.ins spoke 7. She is PI of a project funded by the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Energy (MASE) and of a research unit of an EU project.

In 2023 received the Tribochemistry Award of the Japanese Society of Tribologists (JAST).
