He graduated with a first-class honours in Architecture at the University of Florence in 1987.
Since 1988 he is interested in research on Construction History, protection of historic centers and historic landscape; he conducts research on the history of urbanism and medieval architecture of Sardinia and Tuscany. He has collaborated with the Chair of History of Architecture, University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Prof. Enrico Guidoni), holds a Postgraduate Course (1990) and Ph.D. (1999) in “Storia della Città” and further developed at the university research on the historical heritage of the medieval architecture of the Mediterranean regions.
Through the study of archival sources concerning historical buildings and cities draws many contribution on architectural heritage including the monograph Medieval Town Planning in Sardinia (Urbanistica medievale in Sardegna, Kappa, Rome 2001).
Research Fellow at the Department of Architecture, University of Cagliari (2002-2005), explores the theme of the demolitions of monuments and houses in Italian historical towns.
Since the academic year 2005-2006 onwards is Adjunct Professor of History at the University of Cagliari.
Since 2008 he is a Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Architecture, University of Cagliari, where since 2011 he is Member of the College Graduate Program in “Technology for the Conservation of Architectural and environment”.
He taught History of Architecture, History of Town planning, History of Medieval Cities.
He is author and coordinator of several research projects and other projects of cooperation with developing countries (funded by European Union Culture 2000, the Region of Sardinia – Italy), on the history of architecture, cities, urban public spaces and their preservation. He is responsible for educational initiatives and interdisciplinary research into relations with other universities.
