PhD students of  Cycle XXXIII and PhD students of Cycle XXXII who made up their attendance will take their final examination to receive a PhD degree, according to the timetable below:

JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2021, according to the Rules and Regulations on PhD Programmes, for those PhD students who started their educational activities in October 2017 and completed them on 30th September 2020;
MARCH-APRIL 2021, for those PhD students who started their educational activities in October 2017 and will benefit from the extension indicated in art. 236, par. 5, of Law Decree no. 34 of 19th May 2020, converted with Law of 17th July 2020, no. 77, upon motivated request approved by the Academic Board;
JULY 2021, for those PhD students who started a PhD programme with industrial characterization or a common programme later than the date scheduled for the official start of PhD programmes;
OCTOBER 2021, for those PhD students who started a PhD programme with industrial characterization or a common programme later than the date scheduled for the official start of PhD programmes, and will benefit from the extension indicated in art. 236, par. 5, of Law Decree no. 34 of 19th May 2020, converted with Law of 17th July 2020, no. 77, upon motivated request approved by the Academic Board.

Admission to dissertation
To be admitted to the final examination, the PhD thesis will be evaluated by at least two referees appointed by the Academic Board. They will express their analytical evaluation on the PhD thesis within 30 days from the date it will have been sent, using the specific form below (Evaluation form).
PhD students will send to their referees, according to the deadlines and modes established by each Academic Board:

• PhD thesis
• summary in Italian or English
• report on their activity as PhD students and possible publications, duly filled in and signed. This report will have to be sent also to the Coordinator of the PhD programme (PhD student's report).

Application to be admitted to dissertation and thesis upload
PhD students are allowed to submit the application to obtain their PhD degree and archive their thesis only online, by entering their personal page on UniCa website at: https://unica.esse3.cineca.it/Home.do. Please, follow the guidelines below:

DEADLINES
Thesis dissertation in JANUARY: the submission process will work from the beginning of December 2020 until 15 days before the date scheduled for the thesis dissertation. If the date of the thesis dissertation has not been scheduled yet, 15 days will be calculated starting from 1st January 2021 – i.e., the beginning of the examination session.
Thesis dissertation in FEBRUARY: the submission process will work from the beginning of January 2021 until 15 days before the date scheduled for the thesis dissertation. If the date of the thesis dissertation has not been scheduled yet, 15 days will be calculated starting from 1st February 2021 – i.e., the beginning of the examination session.
Thesis dissertation in MARCH: the submission process will work from the beginning of February 2021 until 15 days before the date scheduled for the thesis dissertation. If the date of the thesis dissertation has not been scheduled yet, 15 days will be calculated starting from 1st March 2021 – i.e., the beginning of the examination session.
Thesis dissertation in APRIL: the submission process will work from the beginning of March 2021 until 15 days before the date scheduled for the thesis dissertation. If the date of the thesis dissertation has not been scheduled yet, 15 days will be calculated starting from 1st April 2021 – i.e., the beginning of the examination session.
Thesis dissertation in JULY: the submission process will work from the beginning of June 2021 until 15 days before the date scheduled for the thesis dissertation. If the date of the thesis dissertation has not been scheduled yet, 15 days will be calculated starting from 1st July 2021 – i.e., the beginning of the examination session.
Thesis dissertation in OCTOBER: the submission process will work from the beginning of September 2021 until 15 days before the date scheduled for the thesis dissertation. If the date of the thesis dissertation has not been scheduled yet, 15 days will be calculated starting from 1st October 2021 – i.e., the beginning of the examination session.
Please, consider that the online application process for the admission to the final examination will be open only after the Academic Board will have communicated the thesis dissertation date to the PhD and Professional Master's Programmes Office (Settore dottorati e master).

Within 15 days before the date of the thesis defence, applicants MUST:

1. Submit the application to obtain their PhD degree
2. Upload their thesis
3. Pay the stamp duty (EUR 16.00)

The calendar with the deadlines scheduled for each PhD programme will be published later, one month before the dissertation approximately.

Specific requirements for PhD students with a PON RI scholarship
Those PhD students who received a scholarship funded by the National Operational Programme Research and Innovation 2014-2020, so as to comply with the requirements of publicity detailed in paragraph no. 2.2 of Annex XII of Regulation (EU) no. 1303/2013 on "Information and communication measures for the public", have to complete the last page of their PhD thesis with the official logos of the programme and the specific wording. PhD thesis
The PhD thesis must be uploaded in a single PDF file, including its cover, not exceeding 50 MB. Uploading a thesis divided into multiple files is not allowed. The name of the file must be "tesi di dottorato_name and surname of the PhD student”.
The cover of the thesis will follow the format available below.
The academic year of the dissertation is 2019/2020 for everybody.
ATTENTION! Changing the academic year is not possible. The PhD student has to indicate the month of the dissertation exclusively.

Scientific Disciplinary Sector
The cover of the PhD thesis must indicate the code of its Scientific Disciplinary Sector, as requested by the Ministry of University and Research with notice no. 1581 of 26th July 2005. It is necessary to indicate only the alpha-numeric code (for example, MAT/01, ING-IND/19, M-FIL/06).
During the online submission, it will be possible to enter only the main SDS. The secondary SDSs could be entered in the section dedicated to the notes.

Request for thesis embargo
The request for the thesis embargo can be submitted only in case of specific conditions. See the link “PhD thesis and copyright" (available only in Italian) and the document and "Definition of embargo" below.
The request form, available below, must be signed by the thesis supervisor and named “richiesta di embargo della tesi_name and surname of the PhD student”.

Attendance make-up
If the PhD programme has been suspended for maternity or disease leave, PhD students have to send an e-mail to dottoratiemaster@unica.it to confirm the attendance period they have to make up.
