Seminar – October 23, 2025 held by Prof. Geta Mitrea
Access to Open Science represents a real opportunity for the research community engaged in the study of the cross-border areas of Romania. A decade ago, only a few papers were available on this topic; today, thanks to the spread of open access, the number of publications has grown significantly, contributing to a better understanding of the specific characteristics of these regions.
The study explores the challenges and particularities of researchers, university teachers, students, and stakeholders working in these areas, analyzing their relationship with the global Open Science network.
Based on pilot interviews and direct observation, the research highlights a growing awareness of the advantages offered by open access to scientific knowledge, which has already contributed to the professional development of many participants.
The results are encouraging and pave the way for further investigations aimed at creating open spaces for data sharing and at building resilience capacity in regions often perceived as marginal.
