How do the technologies you study actually come together in real-world systems?

The CEI-Sphere Hackathon – “Code the Continuum”, taking place on 30 June – 1 July 2026 in Cagliari, is designed to answer exactly this question.

Over two days, students, developers, and innovators will work side by side on practical challenges at the intersection of cloud, edge computing, IoT, and AI. Rather than focusing on isolated tools or concepts, the hackathon offers a hands-on environment where participants can explore how these technologies interact within real applications.

Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate in teams, experiment with open-source technologies, and engage directly with experts from industry and European research projects. The challenges reflect real scenarios currently being addressed in large-scale innovation pilots, from optimizing data flows across edge-cloud systems to orchestrating distributed applications and applying AI techniques to complex system modeling.

Whether your background is in computer science, engineering, or a related field, this is a valuable opportunity to move beyond theory and gain practical experience in a collaborative and international setting.
