Sea & Cities: The Challenges of Urban and Transport Planning for Local Communities and Sustainable Tourism

Sea & Cities International Summer School

The Sea & Cities International Summer School (supported by the EDUC European Digital UniverCity Alliance) offers BA/MA students and PhD candidates an opportunity to engage with the emerging challenges of planning and regenerating coastal cities. The program focuses on the intersection of urban and transport planning, considering the environmental and social threats these areas face. It takes an interdisciplinary approach to the multiple transitions affecting coastal cities, including demographic, ecological, energy, and digital shifts.

The program includes lectures, teacher-student interactions, laboratory activities, seminars, and field trips in the city of Cagliari, Sardinia. Local authorities and experts will contribute to discussions, offering insights into urban transformation processes, the relationship between city ports and surrounding regions, and the integration of sustainable tourism.

Added Value

In past editions, the Summer School has become a critical research activity for PhD students and a valuable educational experience for students of the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering at the University of Cagliari.
