If you are connecting to UniCASearch off-campus, login via IDEM-GARR. You can find a guide on how to access UniCASearch remotely here.
After logging in via IDEM-GARR, you will be able to save your searches on MyEbsco and access Ebsco databases. In order to access electronic resources that require IP address recognition remotely, when you click on the links on UniCASearch you will be asked to login via proxy.
For electronic resources that are not accessible via IP address recognition, you will be required to log in again via IDEM-GARR (you can find a guide here), or to enter a username and password. In the latter case, you must contact your library.
UniCASearch is also accessible on smartphone/tablet. Download the app for iOS and Android. Instructions:
- select “access with your institution;”
- search for and select “University of Cagliari;”
- log in using your institutional credentials (U-GOV for teachers and TAB staff or Esse3 for students without the domain part, i.e., usernameEsse3 and NOT usernameEsse3@studenti.unica.it, usernameUGov and NOT usernameUGov@unica.it).
UniCASearch is connected to major citation databases, such as Scopus and Web of Science. Simply log in as a UniCA user and the "Full Text Finder" logo will automatically appear. Clicking on it will allow you to check if the full text is available for the selected resource. For PubMed, you must connect using this link.
You can also personalize Google Scholar by going to Menu > Settings > Library links > searching for "Cagliari," and checking the selection.
What you will find on UniCASearch
Our discovery tool allows you to explore from a single searchbox: library resources acquired, selected, or produced by the University of Cagliari, those from the University's catalog (OPAC), and millions of digital scientific records indexed in EBSCO's central mega-index.
You can search and access books, articles, bibliographic references, and databases.
The discovery tool makes it easy to discover and locate resources relevant to your research and provides quicker access to the full text, when available.
You can access data from:
- Most of the databases acquired by the University (with full-text access). More information on the databases is available here.
- Scientific resources produced by the University (with full-text access), which are either published as open access or contained in the digital journals on the UniCAOpenJournals platform.
- Other open-access archives, databases, and journals (with full-text access).
- Resources not acquired by the University, but for which abstracts, indexes, and sources are visible (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science), and which are linked to the Nilde document delivery service.
- The catalog of monographs and journals held by the University's libraries.

How to retrieve an unavailable document
If your search results include a bibliographic record for which the full text isn't available, you can still get the document through the university's services. For articles and book chapters, you can use the document delivery service. For books, you can use the interlibrary loan service. These services are reserved for institutional and accredited library users. You can find more information on how to access and use them in the University's library regulations.
To request a document, simply click on "Verifica disponibilità" (Check availability). If the full text is not available, you will see a link that says "Chiedi l'articolo alla biblioteca" (Ask the library for the article) under the "Servizi disponibili" (Available Services) section.
This link will take you to Nilde, where the bibliographic details will be pre-filled, making it easier to submit your request to the library.
If you are requesting a book, you will be directed to the interlibrary loan request form. Before submitting it, please be sure to check if you need the entire book or just a specific section. You can request individual parts through Nilde.
