28 maggio: "Application of synchrotron techniques in metal(loid)s biogeochemistry" - 9 giugno: "Nanotechnologies: the environmental debate"
28 May 2015

Il 28 maggio ed il 9 giugno il visiting professor Enzo Lombi - Professor Centre for Environmental Risk Assessment and Remediation, University of South Australia  - terrà i seminari:

"Application of synchrotron techniques in metal(loid)s biogeochemistry"

"Nanotechnologies: the environmental debate"

Entrambi gli appuntamenti si svolgeranno, con inizio alle ore 10, nell’aula (f) Chimica, piano terra del Palazzo chimico-zootecnico Dipartimento di Agraria, Università di Sassari, Viale Italia 39.

Enzo Lombi. Enzo’s main contributions to environmental research cover various aspects of  contaminant risk assessment, biogeochemistry, ecotoxicology and waste management. Furthermore, the methodological development he has pursued in his research has provided the basis for collaborative efforts in a variety of research areas ranging from plant physiology to human health issues related to contaminant uptake via occupational exposure and diet. In the last few years he has been increasingly focussing on the transformation and toxicity of manufactured nanomaterials in the environment.

Professional associations: Past President of the International Society for Trace Element Biogeochemistry. This is a leading society concerning micronutrients and contaminants in the Environment with over 700 members from 40 different countries.
- Member of the Program Advisory Committee on X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (Australian Synchrotron)
- Panel member for the Instrumentation and Technological Materials - Life and
Medical Sciences Panel of the Elettra Synchrotron (Italy)
- Technical Editor of the Journal of Environmental Quality (2009-present);
- Associate Editor for Environmental Chemistry (2013-present);
- Member of the Consulting Editorial Board of Plant & Soil (2003-present)

Research interests: - Nanobiogeochemistry (i.e. environmental risk assessment of natural and manufactured nanomaterials; the current topic of Enzo’s Future Fellowship); - Synchrotron and spectroscopic techniques in biogeochemistry and biology; - Risk assessment of contaminants in soil; - Distribution and speciation of contaminants and nutrients in major staple  foods
