The applications of glass and the structure of glass as revealed by molecular dynamics

This seminar will begin with an introduction to glass, a key material with many important applications.  This will be followed by a brief discussion the molecular dynamics technique for building models of glass structures.  Then the seminar will use molecular dynamics results to present structures of oxide glasses, including silicate and phosphate glasses.  These molecular dynamics results provide insights to the structural mechanisms related to doping, phase separation, and chemical durability.
