The Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, Philosophy supports and promotes gender equality and respect for diversity within the academic community. In the Department Council meeting of 17 July 2024, it appointed the
Commission for Gender Equality, composed of the following:

Activity report for 2024 and outlook for 2025
The Commission for Gender Equality works to promote gender equality and respect for diversity within the academic community. Through targeted initiatives, awareness-raising activities and concrete projects, the Commission contributes to creating a more inclusive environment that is attentive to equal opportunities.
During 2024, the Commission supported and supported several initiatives aimed at strengthening the culture of equality and inclusion. Among the main activities, in which some of its members actively participated:
- “Communication and gender: from grammatical choices to media discourse”, Fifth Annual Conference SWIP Italia, University of Cagliari, 12-13 December 2024 (For further information click here);
- Fourth Cycle of Seminars on Gender Studies – Reset Unica, hosted by the Faculty of Humanities, 16 February – 1 March 2024 (For further information click here).
For 2025, the Commission intends to consolidate the actions already started and develop new projects to respond more effectively to the needs of the university community. The initiatives planned include:
- Fifth Cycle of Seminars on Gender Studies - Open Unica, hosted by the Faculty of Humanities, 17 – 28 February 2025 (For further information click here);
- Seminar on “Migration and gender (ine)equality” within the Courses of Political Philosophy and Philosophy of Migration (date to be defined, ref. Prof. Taraborrelli);
- Seminar on the book “Donne si nasce e volte si diventa” by A. Cavarero and O. Guaraldo (October 2025, ref. Prof. Taraborrelli, Cabras);
- Seminar on “Prison and transsexuality”, with reflections inspired by La scuola cattolica by Edoardo Albinati, winner of the Strega Prize, in which the author explores the meaning of masculinity, and the story contained in the volume Tutto un altro mondo, which outlines the figure of Cinthia, a trans woman in prison. - Organization of meetings with the inmates of the Uta prison on feminist issues related to gender inequalities;
- Seminar activities for inmates of the Uta and Massama institutes on the condition of trans people and homosexuality in prison;
- Development of educational projects in collaboration with the UniCa Penitentiary University Center;
- Presentation of the book "Leggere le filosofe" edited by A. Loche, A. Peroni, L. Sanò. (For more information click here).
The University of Cagliari has created the volume "Piano di uguaglianza di genere dell’Università degli Studi di Cagliari" with the aim of outlining an academic strategy for the promotion of gender equality, in line with its own Gender Equality Plan. The Commission's commitment will continue with the aim of guaranteeing equal opportunities to everyone, contributing to an increasingly fair and inclusive academic culture.
